Terms of Service
Effective: August 25, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Glosaire, including its mobile apps, website, browser extension, learning content, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Arcana Group, doing business as Glosaire ("Glosaire", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be legally able to agree to these Terms in your country or have permission from a parent or legal guardian where required. You must provide accurate account information, protect your credentials, and promptly notify us at support@glosaire.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.
2. The Service
Glosaire provides Japanese-language learning tools such as a structured Beginner Path, stories, embedded videos, contextual dictionary and subtitle lookup, vocabulary tracking, spaced-repetition exercises, speaking transcription, and automated feedback. Internet access is required for many features. Learning explanations, translations, speech recognition, and automated scores may contain errors and are educational aids, not guarantees of proficiency or professional advice.
3. Free access and Premium subscriptions
Glosaire may provide free features subject to usage limits. Glosaire Premium is offered as an auto-renewable monthly or annual subscription. Before purchase, the checkout displays the current plan, billing period, localized price, included benefits, renewal terms, and any eligible introductory offer. Features and reasonable usage limits are described in the app at the time of purchase.
Purchases made in the iOS app are billed to your Apple Account and are governed by Apple's payment and subscription rules. Unless cancelled, a subscription renews automatically at the price and interval shown at checkout. You can manage or cancel an Apple subscription in your device's subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period unless Apple states otherwise. Deleting your Glosaire account does not cancel billing through Apple, Google Play, or another payment provider; cancel the subscription with that provider before deleting your account. Refund eligibility and processing are determined by the payment provider and applicable law.
4. Your learning data and content
You retain ownership of original notes, profile information, and other content you submit. You give Glosaire a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the Service. If you publish a community collection or other shared content, the license also permits us to make it available to other users until it is removed. Do not submit content you lack the right to use.
5. Acceptable use and community safety
You may not use the Service to violate law or third-party rights; harass, impersonate, or deceive others; distribute unlawful, abusive, or infringing content; bypass access or usage controls; interfere with security or infrastructure; scrape or reverse-engineer the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it; or misuse automated features. We may investigate reports and remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary to protect users, rights holders, or the Service.
6. Third-party services and material
The Service may use or link to services operated by others, including Apple, Google, YouTube, and payment, authentication, analytics, storage, speech, and AI providers. Their availability and terms are outside our control. YouTube videos are played through YouTube's embedded player; Glosaire does not host the source video. Your use of third-party services and content remains subject to their terms. References to third-party brands do not imply sponsorship or endorsement.
7. Glosaire intellectual property
The Service, excluding user and third-party content, is owned by or licensed to Glosaire and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended learning purpose. They do not transfer ownership of Glosaire's software, curriculum, branding, designs, or other materials.
8. Account deletion and termination
You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account. Account deletion removes or schedules removal of associated personal data except records we must retain for security, fraud prevention, payment reconciliation, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Deletion does not cancel a subscription billed by an app store or other payment provider. We may suspend or terminate access for material violations of these Terms, unlawful activity, security risk, or as required by law.
9. Privacy
Our collection, use, sharing, retention, and deletion of personal data are described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Service changes and availability
We may update the Service to improve learning quality, safety, compatibility, or legal compliance. We may change or discontinue free features and reasonable limits. Material changes that adversely affect an active paid subscription will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the rules of the payment provider. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and particular third-party videos or integrations may become unavailable.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties not expressly stated in these Terms. Glosaire is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss caused by third-party services or content. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights, warranties, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer rights.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice in the Service or by email where appropriate. The effective date above identifies the latest version. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them, except where applicable law requires another form of consent.
13. Apple-specific terms
When you obtain Glosaire through Apple's App Store, Apple is not responsible for the Service or its support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the applicable end-user license terms. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies to the licensed iOS app in addition to these Terms to the extent applicable.
14. Contact
