Glosaire publishes this comparison. It was checked on 11 September 2026 against Language Reactor's official documentation and Chrome Web Store listing. Features, compatible browsers, subscription terms, and source-video support can change.
Language Reactor's getting-started guide documents browser tools for Netflix and YouTube, including word definitions, saving subtitles, replay controls, and translations. Its Chrome Web Store listing describes use on Chrome desktop and laptop computers running Windows and macOS.
Glosaire's signed-in Web app combines watch, saved-vocabulary, and practice surfaces for Japanese. Its browser extension adds the learning overlay on supported YouTube and Netflix browser pages. Start with Glosaire's Web app, and check current extension availability before choosing it for Netflix. Neither product guarantees suitable captions for every source video.
Compare the whole study loop
A useful comparison starts after the first word lookup. Try the same short Japanese video with each workflow, then follow one expression as far as the product currently allows:
- Open the word from a subtitle and check its meaning in that sentence.
- Save the word or phrase with enough context to recognise it later.
- Leave the video and find the saved item again.
- Use the available review activity, then decide whether the loop is one you would repeat.
Language Reactor documents saved words and phrases, exports, and its PhrasePump review page in its FAQ, export guide, and update history. Glosaire connects supported Japanese video encounters to its own saved-vocabulary and practice surfaces. The two products organise that path differently; test the path you care about instead of assuming either one stops at subtitles.
These interactive Glosaire examples illustrate lookup, comprehension, and review interactions in the current site. They do not represent Language Reactor or prove a learning outcome.
For example, a learner can stop at one line, reveal the role of the comparison word, then retrieve that same pattern later. That is a test of the Glosaire loop only; repeat the same small task in both products before deciding which workflow suits you.
